Mustang Exhaust Tips

It's about time Ford did something to improve gas milage on the Shelby GT500. All it's competition have been producing similar numbers in horsepower, but blowing the GT500 out of the water for gas consumption. The 2009 Corvette ZO6 gets 16mpg city and 26mpg on the highway. A lot more than 14mpg city and 20 mpg for last years model.

Now I'm not saying Ford improved their mileage a whole lot because they really haven't, but at least their thinking down that lane now. The current 2010 Shelby GT500 picks up additional 2mpg in highway conditions. Changes to the top gears, which were made taller, are a key reason for the improvement.

Greatest improvement seen to the GT500 is the power! Ford has added 40hp and 30ft.-lb. of torque to the 2010 model, I'm very excited about that. Increase like that can easily be see on the track and drag strip.

Refinements to the supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter DOHC V-8 engine’s calibration and improvements to the cold-air intake system help increase the performance on the 2010 Shelby GT500. The engine calibration now features a dual-knock sensor system instead of a single-knock sensor, improving the efficiency of the engine by making better use of the fuel provided. The cold-air intake system makes sure cold air is directly fed to the engine under all circumstances, whether on the street or on the track, to give customers maximum power. The redline is 6,250 rpm.
