Back in the 90s, 300 horsepower coming out of a stock muscle car was pretty amazing, really only seems like a few days ago. Now some of the muscle cars are easily cranking out 400hp and with a few mods you're cranking out a whopping 500hp. Me, I'm happy with my 2002 Trans Am WS.6 cranking out 350hp and my 2004 Mustang Cobra cranking out 400hp. But, in our American way, most gear heads are wanting more out of their sports car.
So if you fit in that category, you might want to check out the new 2010 Ford Mustang GT500. The stock GT500 will be pumping out an amazing 540hp out of the 5.4 liter DOHC 32-valve supercharged V8. Pretty darn amazing, where's the extra horsepower coming from. Well SVT opened up the cold-air intake and gave the muscle car a more aggressive tune.
The car is still a bit heavy, so getting around corners isn't going to be easy if you plan on taking your car out to the track. If you're a dragster like me and not worried about weight, well this car is for you. The Mustang GT500 will 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds, similar figures to the Ford Mustang GT500 KR. One solid muscle car if you ask me!
